There would be sunlight, ie. it’s not completely cloudy or anything, but it’s just ETERNAL DARKNESS instead. That’s what the straight line across means. Sun, but no sun.

I’m going to Tromsø next week where it’s still dark, but the sun will peak out for the first time while I’m there. (I’m not saying my being there and the sun returning are necessarily connected, but…)
