They have more of these available if anyone wanted one, I massively can’t be arsed with buying vinyl these days but Up is so special I made an exception and got a tee I wanted too.
This live version of Daysleeper sounds very nice, I like that it’s a bit different from the record
Oooh, I love the synth sounds in this
One of my favourite things about the Up/Reveal era (and the only redeemable thing about
that album that came after) is Stipe’s singing - his voice and delivery were probably at their peak around this time
Speaking of Reveal this was the last truly great thing they did IMO.
snagged a cd copy of Reckoning (apparently a mid-90s pressing) and it sounds superb. Have been doing all my listening on headphones lately but this is so nice
Micky Dolenz is doing a covers EP
Really like that (vid and cover)
Yeah me too, it works really well
Memory Side (Out Of) Time
Anyone else come across this. Entirely on brand for this site, the current series on Radiohead sucked me in. They’ve also covered Manic Street Preachers, Muse and Billie Eilish.
Long form discussions about each artist’s catalogue and career, around 3-4 hours per album. As with all podcasts your mileage will vary depending on how much you enjoy the hosts. I found them a little irritating at first, but once I got their sense of humour a bit more I enjoyed it. Didn’t take too long to click.
The new seasons of the What Is Music Podcast has just been announced as to be covering the entire R.E.M. discography.
Jesus, the introduction episode is an hour and a half long!
Yep, they don’t do anything by halves and are expecting this new series will take them a year and a half to cover everything they want to (with one episode each week). Album discussion usually run across two episodes.
I am bloody excited by that . Loved the Radiohead and Manics series
Live disc with the
Up reissue is great. Really ragged, loads of chat from Stipe, so much energy. There’s even a rendition of ‘I’m Not Over You’ with him on guitar!
This post paid for by PROF$.
I’m one third of the way through this, loving the whole thing so far.
R.E.M. were absolutely fucking brilliant.
