The joke I immediately thought of making. Just so you’re aware.

Guys stop being racist. It’s pronounced ch*nky and don’t try to pretend that your mouth isn’t capable of pronouncing the asterisk.

Oh, picky totally! That is the entire point of linguistics after all

my grandparents were all working class irish as well as old so yeah, you pretty much have to be racist. but they were benign racists, like i think because of the way they were treated by english people in ireland and when they came to england they sort of empathized a lot with other immigrants. it was more unthinking problematic terms they’d use. calling chinese food “a ch!!ky” and so on.

i miss my benignly racist irish grandparents

I’m not a huge fan. Give me an E.D.L.T. instead any day of the week.

see stuff like that pisses me off. i know it was on the apprentice but just the utter gobsmacking indifference to a part of our history where we committed genocide more than once is…really fucking weird and chilling.

like putting churchill on the currency when he was an aggressive imperialist, warmonger and killed millions of colonial subjects with his fucked up policies (e.g., bengal famine)

gone off topic a bit here but i think this stuff is all linked and accounts for well-meaning mistakes as well as deliberately hateful actions.

now i’m like brent in the office when they’re trying to think of more custard puns.

Especially if the bread is Mighty White

Aldi sell Oliver Cromwell gin ffs

There are two places near my house that style themselves as “Curry Tapas” restaurants. This annoys me.

Isn’t ‘Thali’ already a pretty tried and tested word for that, too. Fucking hell

What’s gonna get more punters in Glasgow do you think - the ‘Thali Restaurant’ or the ‘Curry Tapas Restaurant’?

And in answer to your question - the two things aren’t really the same.

Yeah I marckeed it after posting and Thali’s a different but slightly similar thing. I’d probs just call it an Indian small plates restaurant if it was my thing I reckon

!!!-nky?

(pronounced Bish Bash Bosh-nky, of course)

sounds like someone failing to remember the name “cockney”
