ive only watched a bit of the set so far and it surprised me how little he was doing the tom voice, so ive got that to look forward to i guess i think his voice is just kind of shot these days, i get the impression that it starts off well enough and then it just gets exhausted coz hes not looked after it properly since, well i guess this point in the listening club actually coz hes hopped up on pain pills between like BCR and Neighbourhoods i think
Yeah his voice (and back by the looks of it) are shot. Growing to quite like how the huge amount of processing applied to his live and studio work is making his voice even more implausible. Kinda works
Their set was great imo
yeah it’s not so much the classic Tom “where are yoyyyy” voice, more like he’s slurring a lot tbh. does just look a bit knackered
travis on the other hand was playing like his life depended on it.
great setlist mind
Hope they do the rounds in like 3 years when I can take my daughter. She LOVES them and I reckon could handle at least some of the horrendous gags by then…I’ve grown to love them this year too
Just got her this
The slurring is the vocal processing I think. Makes him sound like a robot. And to even it out they throw it on Marks voice too
i dig it
the production on California and Nine is so gross you can hardly tell Mark and Matt Skiba apart
Can’t wait!
best track on california was the one about seeing naked dudes
yeah at least that ones over in about a minute
16 seconds to be exact
quiet couple of weeks eh. lets vote!

finally getting round to listening to I-Empire and omg it’s so boring
it’s so U2
ok i’m sorry but neither main band did anything for ages, like enough time for Angels and Airwaves to do an album and even the fucking drummer from Radiohead. let’s just get through this thing together, next week will be fun i promise
Love by Angels and Airwaves
Familial by Philip Selway
and yes i had to make a playlist for the AVA album, for some reason on spotify they have Love part 2 on there and also both of them as a double album but there is no fucking way i’m making it through an AVA double album, no way. ooh but there is a track on there called Letters to God part 2, i wonder if it’s as good as the BCR song? maybe better, like Anthem part 2?? prob not right??? let’s find out!
who knew that AVA had so many albums man. this bodes well for the premise of the thread though:
The music of Love, DeLonge says, has a progressive rock kind of flavor. “It’s like blending Radiohead and U2 together with these kind of Pink Floyd movements”, he explains. “Things happen unpredictably and take you to these epic soundscapes. It is very much in the spirit of Angels & Airwaves, but it sounds way, way more thought-out and way more ambitious.”
very interesting! except for the fact that its definitely going to sound more like U2 and fucking Pink Floyd…
coincidentally, Johnny Greenwood has described ‘Threnody For The Victims Of Hiroshima / Popcorn Superhet Receiver / Polymorphia / 48 Responses To Polymorphia’ as his attempt to make a Blink record
classic arrogant Radiohead presuming they can just pick up a guitar and start singing about wanking and kickflips and it’ll sound like Blink
