Overly-salty and rubbery are not two attributes I’m looking for in food.

It’s not too salty but the rubbery bit only comes if you cook it badly or not at all

Have never tried it raw though - will test a bit before cooking up next time. Can’t believe it’s the preferable way to consume it though. My top tip, a dashing of soy sauce on top before slinging it under the grill/on the BBQ…

I can’t even think of why you would have it uncooked though. Like @crisps said, I might have a slice when I’m getting it ready to cook. But it’s not poisonous or in any way unpleasant. It’s fine.
