They’re both semi-hardened (whey!) brined cheeses. They’re not really that different.

They’re totally different. One goes soft when melted, the other stays solid.
One is a hard cheese to begin with, the other is a soft cheese that holds its shape.
I’m starting to doubt whether you’ve eaten cheese at all!
