Mostly with @TheWza on this one, too much new stuff to explore in genres I haven’t tried yet, or directors I haven’t got into yet, for me to watch the same things over and over.
Haven’t done it with any books in years, but read High Fidelity and the Molesworth books loads when I was younger.
TV is easy with comedies, especially British ones (must have done IT Crowd and Black Books 6 times each by now) but dramas just take so much time. Love the concept of a total Mad Men or Sopranos rewatch but can’t imagine I’ll make it happen. Different when it’s a group activity though, ended up watching most of GOT and Breaking Bad multiple times with different groups of people over the years - always feels fresh that way with new things to discuss and their individual takes on it all. No motivation to do so when alone though.
Films I’ve obviously got my favs that get brought out when I’m ill or low or right time of the year. And they’re especially good for showing to new friends, as it only takes a couple hours unlike a show or book which is much more of an investment for them. Seen Home Alone, Bugsy Malone, Blazing Saddles etc about 15-20 each now. But I’ve been pushing myself to watch new things the last couple of years, so a rewatch feels like a wasted opportunity to finally see Blood Simple or American Beauty or Repulsion or McCabe and Mrs Miller or Nashville or …
