What does 2026 hold in store for us booklovers? What favourite authors have something new out this year? What else are you looking forward to? How many of us are going to read Darkrooms? (answer: all of us, or you get kicked out of the thread)
I think I’m going to do this too. I’m really interested in King Sorrow, the new Danielewski, and I have The Book of Love by Kelly Link that I’ve been wanting to read for a year and never get to. Lonesome Dove piquing my interest too, esp since Noops loved it last year. The only thing is what format do you go for? I can’t carry a 1000 page hardback around but it’s more satisfying working through a physical book!
My main reading goal for this year is read some non fiction. Found Easy Riders, Raging Bulls in the BHF shop and my mum got me a book about the Netherlands and a book about Japan.
The big chonkers here will probably wait until the summer but I’d like to clear some of the more obscure things from my Want To Read list too at some point (although that will need to wait until the library orders open again/ I learn how to manage money better). The charity shelves at Tesco/ chazza shops are doing a lot of the heavy lifting here.
I’m currently reading The End of Mr Y (I always liked the cover and I’d probably have loved it if I read it when it came out). The Brothers Grimm and that book on assessment will be done at some point. I’m reading The Child Onyeka and The Academy of The Sun which we’re both quite enjoying.
First book for the year is the Grapes of Wrath, excited about getting stuck in. Will read Rosemary’s Baby soon too. Otherwise will be delving randomly into my huge tbr pile. Or ignoring it and reading stuff from the library.
I’ve got to stop going to the library and read the books I’ve got. That’s my main reading resolution, so going to start the year off with the 3 books I currently have out from the library.
