Just checked the line up and real slim pickings for me this year. Desperately trying not to be a “back in my day” grump because I am blinded by nostalgia of attending in the 90s/00s (and their core audience has clearly changed), any recommendations on anything interesting that is worth checking out?
I got a couple of day tickets for Saturday (Reading) for £50 each, the other day. There are loads of weekend ones going too, so by Sunday, they may be desperate.
I really hope they learn something from how badly it’s sold this year. The line up is even more “a few massive tracks/big on TikTok” than ever. They did miss a trick by not having Bicep headline one of the main stages, . It doesn’t feel right having them play in the daylight at this point, especially as they are about the only mainstream big dance act playing. I would be tempted to head down and watch them from the road in an hour, but it’s just too early.
They’ve only ever streamed the two biggest stages, but since they slimmed down to two alternating stages, you don’t even get anything to choose from live, and the they’ve gone from 9 acts on the main stage, 12 on the Radio 1 stage, to 11 (now that someone dropped out) over the two main stages. Can’t be great for anything other than the organiser’s back pockets.
They’ve appear twice as Pretty Boys too, so probably have done most years. Pretty sure you can see us at some point in this video from the first year they played.
