That stopped before I stopped camping at festivals around the early 00s. A real shame, that used to be a big highlight for me!
Ah ok. 17 year old daughter came back this morning. Haven’t spoken to her yet though.
Nah, I walked around the campsites lots of years since and things have been calmer; much less mob mentality and people literally trying to burn people in their sleep. It does seem to have rescalated in other ways, now. And yeah, that purge is grim
We’d only had dickheadfree experiences at Fernhill Farm in our 3 visits and weren’t there this year, so it’s sad to hear about the potential dickheadification of ATG.
There wasn’t much. There was noticeablely more people shoving to get down the front, and said bin jousting.
Hopefully it’s a bit of a freak year.
I’ll never go back to Reading festival after I was assaulted without provocation over 20 years ago by two people. I had to run away and hide in a random tent.
Ugh, that’s rough. Don’t blame you for not returning. We had a bad experience at a V Festival where someone threw a gas canister on a fire, we saw a flash of light sweep across outside and then our tent was on fire. Just a corner that we stamped out thankfully. I hadn’t drunk any alcohol since lunchtime so we just packed and left (it was the last night).
Handy checklist for our last Reading experiences. I reckon most of the items on the list stopped us going back to Reading years ago. I’d also add “throwing glass bottles at the small fire engine which arrived to put out the fire you started”.
But no, not watched any on iPlayer yet, just to get back to the topic!
Just got home and stuck Fontaines on the tele an actual minor irk, the lad on stage with camera annoys me, however it appears that the footage is being processed for the big screens, fair enough at that point it’s annoying seeing a camera person whizzing round the picturebut it has a point. But the beeb have just took the raw feed from this camera and it is really annoying and makes me feel quite ill.
it’s easy to say “it was better in my day” but this literally sounds like every experience i had of camping at leeds festival in the mids 2000s
