Recently started rewatching the Royle Family (and now Early Doors)

Forgot how brilliant it was

We’ve also been dipping into this.

Always felt it deserves more credit for it’s style and influence especially because it’s not that different to The Office really.

Me Chico Latino?

Yeeaah.

I hadnt seen it for about 15 years and decided to watch the Xmas special with Emma’s parents, and instantly gone back to the start. Its so well observe, it is like a documentary

Was thinking about this episode just yesterday at work.

The way her dad starts to light up when he sees how they first react to one of his brags… then just gets bigger and bigger.
Superbly acted.

Never fail to cry at Denise and Jim in the bathroom.
And Sue Johnstone in this is pretty much my mum.

I’d love a dyson.

I’d love a dyson!

Sometimes think about Darren and hope he’s OK.

He’s in Corra, he’s absolutely loving life

One of the all time scenes is when Joe is singing and it pans slowly across the room and everyones watching and paying attention and it gets to Darren and hes bored as fuck

No, not Andy Whyment (who i met once in Corbiere’s and just quoted his lines to him. Was suuuuper cool). Actual Darren.

All the Darrens, really.

It’s astonishingly good imo, not including the Christmas specials obviously

First is still amazing.

The rest can get in the sea, agreed.

If you discount everything after Nana then it’s probably top 5 of all time.

The bit where Barbara finds Nana has died and shouts for Jim is absolutely heartbreaking

Have you seen the film Riff Raff? He’s great in that.

Where can I watch this outside of DVDs?

“And then she had the soup of the day, which was…which was Friday” is one of the best jokes ever written.
