Oh sorry no i meant like… these are the kinds of things i already like, id like to hear things that are similar ish or have complementary vibes. Have amended for clarity
The first two are the two GBV albums i love though!
Really?! i watched the video years ago but didnt rewatch it before i posted it yesterday so i’m unaware/don’t remember there being different versions. i’ll give it a listen tomorrow.
So, slight rabbit hole. I put the song on via Spotify, and it was the same as your YouTube link. Then looked at the album, and got superconfused as there was 4 songs i didn’t recognise (on a 12 track album).
Looked at the version I had on mp3, and it was the version of AS and the track listing i remembered. So, not going mad, thankfully.
Via Discogs the version i have and loved is from 1995.
The Spotify version is from 1996 and is called the “Club” version, and has songs like Rains of Kansas etc that I don’t know.
I loved Scarce in the mid 90s, but have zero recollection of any press etc about them rerecording the album or the different songs…
Do you want a back catalogue to explore, or a more limited discography?
Do you care whether the band is known widely enough that there’s a slim chance you might one day meet someone who also likes them, or are obscure 90s Australian indie bands welcome?
Is there a way to see your lastfm profile without have one myself?
you recommended Baby Queen to me 2 years ago - she’s now a top 10 most played artist for me, seen her live twice, Raw Thoughts is by far my most-played song - so I have high hopes
that’s all news to me too. The cd version of the album is the one i know. excited to check out those 4 new tracks on spotify though, never heard those before. thanks for the info!
thanks everyone for recommendations so far! i’m not ignoring anyone, i’ve put them in a playlist that i can go through in the next month or so
thank you! I did - depending on your definition i still have; i just pop back in every so often like when i need music recs, when i want to see how DiS has responded to a TV show i like, and when i wanna update my groundhopping thread.
i just got bored and it wasn’t necessarily a healthy place for me to spend a lot of time (not a slur on anyone specific, just felt like my worst traits thrived here). towards the end i wasn’t sure i was ‘nice’ enough to be a part of the community. it’s a lot of people’s safe space - it wasn’t fair for me to pretend to be someone i’m not to others, and i didn’t need that safe space myself, so it made sense to bow out
Although there’s only ‘Deadsexy’ on Spotify, there’s a wealth of Scarce stuff on Bandcamp including the album they released to accompany Joyce’s book. Chick Grsning’s solo album is also pretty good.
