Glad to hear it! Yeah I knew Dragon would be right up your street. I had a quick browse through SV in the afternoon but it was busy and I was in a bit of a rush, might head back round tomorrow after/during work for a proper look.

Looks like a ‘pop up’ to me - I noticed the building has a ‘for sale’ sign on it and they’ve obviously not spent masses on fitting it out and kept the stock fairly limited. Whoever selected the stock has excellent taste though.

Yeah when I was googling the address it came up with 2 different property site listings - one for the rental of the shop space, and one for the sale of the entire building with a view to knocking it down and rebuilding. So looks like a short term rental, would like to see them keep the shop going if they get a new location later on though.

Yeah it’s a co-venture between a great promoter, guy from Dragon and someone else. Might pick up one of the Silver Jews records if they’re still there, fitting given the name

They’ve posted about intending to fully take part in RSD next year so should be a long term thing then. Lovely!

I bought a beautiful (and very expensive) Alice Coltrane album and a Cramps live record for myself and the Orielles album for my daughter. All selected on the basis I could stick it on a credit card (and hence it wasn’t real money) only to be told they hadn’t got the card machine working and could only take cash. They had been open for less than hour at that point, to be fair.

Couldn’t be arsed queueing at stupid o’clock.
Rocked up at noon and got most stuff I wanted and confident I’ll be able to get the rest online.
@Icarus-Smicarus been into SV yet?
@bornin69x glad to help, hope you had a nice time over here.

didn’t make it into town until later than planned due to a hangover so only had a quick look in before heading for the bus to Derry. was quite busy so i didn’t get a proper look through all the racks. gonna try and get round after work tomorrow i think and get a proper rummage. hope there’s some decent stuff left

Aye might pop in if I’m in town this week.
Did you get into abbazappa or cool discs in the end?
Bending Sound was grand if very much full of the types of people in that spoof article you posted but also weirdly passive aggressive (ready to kill me if I so much as glanced at their prized Toyah or Duran Duran records )

Fabulous thanks. I didn’t just spend all my time in record shops. Great city and stunningly beautiful country. I’m not going over that rope bridge again any time soon though.

Had a casual shop around in Resident yesterday, still loads of stock. Bought 3 non- RSD things then left my bloody card in the shop. Still, stops me buying anything else today

Glad to hear it!
Carric-a-rede ? its a bollocks!
Causeway is a bit disappointing in real life isnt it?
Titanic Centre is good and now had bonus Game of Thrones exhibition.

We loved the Causeway!

Ah good stuff…
Most people I speak to are always a bit let down as they think there’ll be a lot more of the stones than there actually is, like the whole coast should just be like a game of Qbert

There were about 15 copies of the ‘Lost in Translation’ vinyl on ebay yesterday and one of them went for £94…mental.

People are the worst.
Local shop here posted a photo of the first lad in line and said he had a ‘huge list’ - of course he fucking did, it’s all going straight on ebay isnt it!
If RSD could collab with ebay not to sell the items for at least a few weeks it would help, also in the states stores can stick what they have left online the next day whereas in UK they have to wait a week so I think that fuels uncertainty and people can cave in to stupid prices.
There’s pluses and minuses to RSD but people being shitty and ebay gouging is the main negative.

Still maintain that the ginger cat filed a noise complaint with the council (beardy man interrupting my sunbathing), hence the move to St Vincent’s Chapel this year. Pretty sure that’s it.

Noticed a couple of things on discogs at big markups listed before the weekend, don’t know if that is shop owners deciding to hold on to stock or just people confident of getting them on the day. All a bit weird if you ask me.

 I love the idea that eBay would be remotely interested in doing anything

Fundamental problem here is highly desirable records being released in very limited numbers on a first-come-first-served basis. A Jack White single available only in 2 stores or a new Paul McCartney single limited to 100 copies worldwide, sold at $10. Regardless of the actual merits of either release, they don’t help Record Stores or fans at all.
