Our waste goes into communal bins on the street, and you’re supposed to put recycling in loose. So, yeah, no details.

but like, why would someone break into your house just because they know your name, from an empty box I bought a £5 item from Amazon?

Delivery boxes, nah. Always rip my letters up, bisecting my name, because my mummy and daddy used to do it and they’re good role models

Big fan of this callback.

Assumed it was a very long time ago but I just googled and there’s a BBC article from early June 2016 about them. Like, a week before the Brexit referendum. Should’ve seen it as an early sign, really.

Yeah, I’ve always removed my name and address from stuff. Always beem very tinfoil hat when it comes to personal deets.

I actually write my name and address with a marker pen on everything I recycle. I think it’s important to take ownership.

Depends on my mood tbh. If I’m sad it’s all “oh forget it, no one’s gonna want to steal my stupid identity.” If I’m happy then it’s more “those bin perverts better not look at my beautiful postcode”

i am bunger, gf is a redactor, which causes a bit of tension tbh

in fact she’s not even a redactor she’s an incinerator

I’m a bunger when it comes to parcel boxes etc. My name is on the electoral roll, so if someone wanted to do a job on me then it’d be easier than rifling through my bins. However I’m meticulous with things like council tax statements / utility bills. All of that goes through the cross-cut shredder before getting binned.

I had a bit of a scare last month, in that our electricity account was switched without our permission. Had visions of someone using the utility bill to steal my identity. Turns out it was just an admin fuck-up.

Actually stick it in the log burner.

Burning paperwork always makes me think of:

Saw something on TV once about identity theft and since then I mostly redact. I just had a good morning of redacting a load of cardboard packaging that I’ve had lying around for a while

I’ve just got a credit alert set up so if anyone applies for anything in my name it’ll let me know. Saves me hours of redacting time, apparently.

seems like a faff being a disser sometimes, preheating ovens, redacting boxes

Life is far, far too short to be redacting your envelopes ffs.

Pro tip: If you put out your recycling roughly 20m before it goes you can minimise this risk without any effort.

Got to be quicker now though, because the timings have changed! Was amazed when I came back from the school run this morning and my recycling had already gone.

Actually, this is a sort of timely place to post this too - our bin trucks are now Respecting The NHS which I am on board with, but I did laugh at the use of #proud on the back of the truck.

Just to note, I’m really not shitting on this at all and I actually think it’s weirdly sweet, but #proud is funny
