It’s fine. It’s just like the Internet circa 1994. Some enthusiastic, fun sites/subreddits, some dross, and some downright, jaw-droppingly terrible.

It’s fine once a) you’ve come to understand how to navigate the site, and b) once you know which bits to avoid. It’s too easy not to really know and to find gifs of cute bunnies next to hardcore porn. It doesn’t help that it’s almost exclusively populated by 15-35 year old boys, so skews heavily towards tits and penoid card games.

The owners have also been totally unwilling to deal with stuff like virulent racism or groups dedicated to stuff like “underage creep shots”. They still actively choose to host stuff like Red Pill because you know it would be uncool and like censorship to not actively create the place for it and whoah calm down and stop overreacting to people describing how they want to rape you, it makes you look not cool.

So yeah I have absolutely no interest in becoming part of a place that is absolutely set up to be hostile to me and others and tries to act like actively supporting/providing a space for those who do is some kind of noble form of neutrality.

(Don’t collectively even Not All SubReddits me here- I could not care less about you plural’s apologism for the place)

Sometimes spend hours reading the r/AskReddit threads. Lots of interesting stories and facts on there. Also sort /nosleep but top threads from the year and you’ll find some good creepy reads. Also I’m a bit of a phone nerd so spend time on /Android. All these subs have quite stringent posting rules and are pretty good natured so largely free of the scum you get elsewhere on the site.

I only really use it for the Drag Race sub, which is intense but very skilful at finding things out. Totally different to the Red Pill side of the site, thankfully.

The racism, sexism aside, the most annoying thing about it is witnessing thousands of men absolutely clambering over themselves to do funnies. Like every fucking response is a joke. Kind of puts you off trying to be funny, and that’s why I stopped being funny about 7 years ago on drowned in sound, it was for the betterment of you all, to show you there’s something greater

people clambering to tell the same damn jokes too. One of the most annoying things (barring truly egregious stuff like racism and sexism) is just how repetitive the site can be, especially for such a large site.

Glad you guys can brush off the racism and misogyny and other bigotry so easily, and focus on what’s really important and what directly affects you (because we all know that’s the most important thing really)- the quality of jokes.
