Mrs CCB’s parents still call us via Skype

Still use it as it’s my PhD supervisor’s preferred method of video calling for some reason. Get absolutely hammered with spam and have somehow ended up in a Bitcoin trading group chat on it.

They should have taken over the world when lockdown hit. Hard to think of a bigger fumble.

didn’t they get bought out before the pando?

think Skype had just died or Teams had just come in at my work in late 2019

Microsoft bought it in 2011, and prioritised/asset stripped it for Teams.

Remember how my spanish friends say it

I seem to remember using Skype at the start of the pandemic and it being useless and having to find an alternative.

Microsoft seem to have eventually made Teams the go to meeting app of choice despite it being bloody awful so alls well that ends terribly I guess.

No Skype, no married Tiergarten. We downloaded our messaging app convos as part of my wife’s spousal visa application, and the number of Skype calls started and ended messages alone meant a log of over 700 pages.

it’s weird that in lockdown everyone flocked to Zoom which no one had ever heard of, instead of Skype which everyone has heard of
