So breezy

Fave vid on YouTube so perfect in every way.

Had a bit of a weep about this even though I knew it was coming. What a woman, what a voice. There’ll never be anyone quite like her again

This is one of those ones that hits you much harder than you expected. I guess I grew up, like so many others, with Aretha in the house courtesy of my mum

Then one of my bosses said to me as we left work “She’s not dead, she’ll never die. Listen, she’s singing in my ear right now and that’ll never stop because people will never stop listening to her music”

and I felt a lot better for about 10 minutes & then I burst into tears listening to ‘say a little prayer’ in the headphones on my walk home

Rest in fucking power Aretha
:pray:t3:

Like many people my age, I grew up in a house where my mum and dad played soul music all the time, so she felt like a part of my life even though I never lived through it.

I just got off the phone to my parents after they got back from their regular ballroom dancing group. They took along some old records and it turned into a soul night tonight.

My parents had this - https://www.discogs.com/Various-The-No-1-Classic-Soul-Album/release/3709243 - when I was 5. Stacked across all four sides. I Say A Little Prayer was the first one I learnt to sing.

Couldn’t have put it better.
