Ah that’s a shame. One of the greats.
He was always a welcome presence to see on screen. Great voice too, could listen to him read the phone book. RIP.
RIP an absolute legend. Reckon Hour of the Wolf is my favourite performance of his, highly recommended.
One of those actors whose presence elevated the whole film. Incredible body of work:
DiS’s 31st favourite actor
Excellent cameo in TFA
Legend. Good innings, mind.
Absolute legend. Obvious one but he makes The Exorcist.
Keep getting that Allo Darlin’ song in my head now
Listened to the Escape to Victory theme a few times this morning in tribute.
Funnily enough I watched Winter Light by Bergman on Saturday
Max Von Sydow only has a small (but pivotal) role as a church goer crippled by existential anxiety. He only has about 10 mins screen time and says about 20 words but there’s SO MUCH angst and pathos in his performance, more than most actors could conjure in their whole career.
Brilliant, brilliant actor. Did his best work with Bergman obviously.
A casually brilliant actor who could do the lot. RIP.
class from p-brads as per
just a fucking brilliant actor, brought so much to all his roles and what a body of work he leaves behind.
as my bro said to me earlier ‘i always greeted his presence on the screen with Yass fucking Max Von Sydow’
Good innings. So long Max.
excellent film, not seen in years, must remedy that soon.
