unfortunately i was shitting myself a bit (first interview, general hatred of the phone) so i wasn’t able to be as chatty as i would have liked to be!

Patrick Stickles is a good lad.
Lots of time for people even though the show was sparsely populated.

Had a nice, brief conversation with Bradford Cox once upon a time.

Wow that’s great.
It was when he played Voodoo.
He was very self deprecating onstage and friendly offstage with a kind of sad sack humour.
Sometimes it’s the silly things that stick in your mind: in the space of a few months Aidan, Malcolm and Kathryn Joseph had all enlightened me about the best technique to open a new LP. No one before or after has ever told me this technique.
Must be a Scottish indie thing :grinning:

yeah the Voodoo show was great, didn’t go to the merch stand after though as he mentioned he’d left most of the merch in his hotel. what are the techniques?

Haha yes he elaborated on that “I brought loads of the rare vinyl but left the box in the hotel and it was pissing rain so…”
It was basically sawing the LP back and forth across your jeans with the ‘opening’ of the sleeve rubbing your leg (oo-er). Just found it really funny that these are the only 3 people to have ever mentioned it.
I let them all know my technique in return - using a plectrum or Stanley knife to pierce the shrink-wrap at the opening.
Aidans totally deadpan response followed by a hearty laugh “aye there’s enough fucking knives in Glasgow as it is mate” *:joy:

i normally just use the knife technique tbf. i’d never thought of a plectrum though, sounds safer for next time

Aye works better, safer and no chance of accidentally wrecking the LP :grinning:

I’m not into pop but I’ve become a bit obsessed with Sophie Ellis-Bextor lately. She comes across as a very cool lady, certainly a good mom (and also a machine, 5 kids as a pop star).
