I’ll have a bit of Idlewild thank you very much.
They can’t announce the other two headliners until after festival season. I was going to go and see PiL despite everything and hope Lydon kept his mouth shut between songs, but he’s just getting worse and worse and I’m hoping a good clash removes any last thoughts of it.
Are Insecure Men a band or no?
Low Harness are real good. Bits of MBV/daydream nation era sonic youth going on. Think they supported the manics recently
You might like swallowtail if that’s your ‘hing
BLACKGOLD?! Do they mean Black Gold?
They’re the one who keeps getting kicked out of Fat White Family’s other band, so once again he’s swerved the reckoning people seem to have just assumed had already happened.
No, BLACKGOLD the masked nu-metal revivalists because that’s apparently a thing that someone’s still trying to push.
We Hate You Please Die are good if you like churning garage-punk fuzz.
Oh they’re terrible. And Welsh
Just added the festival tag, to make the thread easier to find.
After having done the last few of these we are sadly having to give this a skip this year due to being unable to get any childcare sorted . Look forward to hearing how it goes from those who are going. Already making plans for 2027 … couldn’t find any dates on a quick search. Surely not a 1st Jan start?! (It is the first Friday of the new year which I think is the standard start date).
No, they’ve confirmed it’ll go back a week next year.
Looking forward to next weekend, wife and I having our first child free trip away since the baby was born so absolutely maxing out our Butlins experience with the spa and a massage and maybe a bang on the indoor mini golf. Looking forward to Humour, Idlewild, PiL (despite Johnny being an arsehole), Winter Garden, Gans and the Friday night New Years Eve party. Also a cold walk for a warming decent pint at the Dog And Duck. Nice way to start the new year.

We did the spa treatment the first year, but after that we told people how good the festival was and our numbers keep swelling so we haven’t found the time since!
A few people have recommended the Dog and Duck, we never normally leave the site! You can get a slightly better pint in the bowling/pool area from a separate IPA stand, or at least you could last year. I remember quite a bit of the pavilion roof in there was in a bad state last year, but apparently it was due its 10 year refurb in February so hopefully it’ll be lot nicer in there this time.
By the way, we got an email for a free game on the mini golf so we’re definitely giving that a go!
I bet you are, you dirty bollox
Every time I went there last year, the poor lad serving was being accosted by beer wankers asking ‘why can’t you get more stuff like this, the Dog and Duck is full of people from Rockaway Beach because they want better beer, why do you not want to make money?’.
Maybe he was actually Mr Butlins’ nephew and there’ll be a full craft beer festival there this year, who knows.
Ick. Feels deeply unnecessary to be giving stick to the employee.
They had the IPA bar on Centre stage and Studio 37 last year as well (think it was Jute IPA). Dog and Duck is well worth a visit if there’s a break in the schedule
