New Siavash Amini LP out today, sounding wonderfully dread inducing so far, and mastered by the brilliant Lawrence English.

Really loving this IDO comp.

(Nicked the Bleep blurb…)

“IDO founder Valentino Mora begins a curated series of ambient releases with Transcendental Movements Vol. 1, a sprawling collection of works from a host of diverse artists, each with their own unique approach to invoking meditative states. Designed to invite deep listening practices, the textures of Transcendental Movements Vol. 1 combine minimal sonics and staggering detail, from the glitch bliss of Olaf Tonstein’s ‘Algol’ and Neel’s ‘Alchemy’ to the whirling cosmic synthesis of Varuna’s ‘Current’.”

Just released on cassette tape last week

Bandcamp’s Acid Test has thrown out another gold 'un.

Maybe reminiscent of some of Fennesz’ work or someone liek Jan Jelinek in terms of presenting an abstracted version of some very sunny-sounding music, in a way that does that warm organic / cold digital blending really nicely.

Also, a little bit of sly self-promotion - but I recently put out a little music video in advance of my forthcoming album that may vibe with this thread:

Think this will be relevant to people’s interests here. Just released a new 3-track EP on Disintegration State. It’s a mixture of drone, modern composition, noise and just a hint (a very small one) of post-hardcore. It’s covid-centric and everything I make from it is going to charity.

Wrote a bit more about it here - Disintegration State - new Adventsong!

Pleased to report that my Bandcamp Day purchase is as glorious in full as the two early tracks had suggested it would be.

Released today.

Second this – it’s a really beautiful record.

My only tiny quibble is that I feel like the first ⅔ of the album is building towards a massive blistering crescendo that never comes.

But that’s much more about my own personal expectations/wants from this type of music and not a failing of the actual album at all.

This was the perfectly bleak soundtrack to scrolling through Indeed applying for any job that wasn’t 100% soul destroying.

of all time?

Yeah.

Tough to pinpoint as there’s so many, but main ones I always go back to:

John Foxx- Complete Cathedral Oceans
Stars of the Lid- Tired Sounds of Stars of the Lid
Fennesz- Endless Summer
Tangerine Dream- Phaedra
Caretaker- Everywhere, An Empty Bliss

Don’t know how others feel about it but this reminded me of the pitchfork list from a while back. Looking at it now there’s a mixed bunch of stuff I love and stuff that isnt my thing and also still a few things i need to check out.
Ambient isnt easy to get a quick feel for what you like is it because it needs time to sink in.

I’ve been listening to this for the past 3 days. It’s glorious

Absolutely. Enjoying it more and more with each (pretty frequent) listen.

The way she weaves the acoustic instruments with electronic drones is so beautiful.

Just picked this up yesterday after thoroughly enjoying her first two EPs. This is really, really good. I’m beginning to feel that traditional acoustic instruments pushed into drone and experimental territories is my favourite type of ambient / drone.
