Very much enjoying my first spin of Ian William Craig’s new Red Run Through Smoke LP on rather lovely translucent red vinyl. He’s such a star.

BUT…

May I have a little whinge?

I get all of my (purchased!) digital and much of my vinyl from Bandcamp. I love Bandcamp. I’ll be choosing something vinyl from the ASIP site today in support of them and their artists on Bandcamp’s no-15% day (nice gesture, BC). And I’ll be able to get a smashing lossless FLAC copy too.

Why then is it that so often when I buy vinyl direct from a label, the download (which, come on, should be invariably included, and I’m astonished when very occasionally it isn’t…) is so often just 320 mp3? I mean, COME ON! They must know that people like us who buy music-snob leftfield weird vinyl will give a shit if the download is not at a least available in lossless???

Whinge over!

Back to the beauty of IWC and the ASIP catalogue. Stay safe, AmbientDroners.

Bought the red vinyl of Olga Wojciechowska’a Infinite Distances earlier. Shipping from the States. Ridiculously expensive. But all proceeds to the artist so, quite franky Mr COVID-19, FUCK IT!
