I can pretty much always tell instantly that it’s a no, or if it’s a this is going to be great. Personally I think that there is a narrower spectrum for me than with other genres, in that that middle group of maybes is smaller.

I’ve posted before that as I get older it takes ‘more’ for me to go wow and know it’s a keeper. Maybe that’s just because I’ve heard so much that it needs more special to hook me, or maybe (and this is my belief), the fact that it’s easier to get ones music out there now means that, inevitably, there’s more meh stuff around.

But in terms of does one listen allow me to know it’s a great record. Yup!

Anyone else loving the new Less Bells?

I have to admit not to have given it enough attention and focus when it was released, but have really got into it in the last week or so. Strong contender for my AOTY list.

Yep, it’s gorgeous! Far more varied in terms of texture, instrumentation and composition than most ambient records.

Yup, this, the Less Bells record (so pleased to see that getting some love), and the Galya Bisengalieva are all dominating my listening currently.

Really looking forward to Oliver Coates next month too, this track is wonderful

Really enjoying this Meitei release from the weekend.

Nice interview here with the artist talking about the album and his approach to making music in general.

I really like this so far. I liked Kwaidan a lot for its very specific but quite minimal style and it sounds like this is expanding on that a lot more, which excites me quite a lot.

Track 11 is amazing. Think this is going to be a purchase on the next Bandcamp Friday

Yeah, I really love the one after it, the penultimate track. Think I’m going to have to follow suit as well. When does the next Bandcamp Friday come around?

Had some lovely records turn up today.

Field Lines Cartographer’s The Spectral Isle, which, you’re right @Twinkletoes, is an absolute stone cold stunner. Khotin’s dreamy, groovy, cosy new one. AD93’s latest in their killer Blue series. And the new worriedaboutsatan comp/album on PITP, Europa. @worrier1… What a thoroughly beautiful thing. Congrats.

There is just so much wonderful music. Spoiled, we are.

I posted it a few weeks ago – glad you’re enjoying it; it’s one of my faves too. There’s something about the sound that’s really compelling.
