Well, here we are, another year for the greatest thread on the Internet.
R.I.P.
And, true to form, a closer listen helps to start the year off as we mean to go on.

Iāve very much enjoyed the last two LPs by Nicol Eltzroth Rosendorf (and have shared them in the thread!), and this, out today, is a remix album of five of the tracks from last yearās Internal Return.
Includes reworkings by the likes of RAI, and is rather smashing.

Nice lilting improvs from some big hitters
Put a track out on streaming today from a bandcamp compilation a few years back which got an editorial shout at the time.
Haunted orchestral feels.
A few on here might be interested in this!

Phill Niblockās passed away
Iām surprised at myself for having not made any effort to listen to his stuff until the news me his passing. What a mistake that was. I had this on full blast night, quite the experience
Dark ambient mix of influences from KAVARI:

Yes! Putting this on now
This is so good! I think you said that the album sounds like survival horror videogame stuff. That take was spot on. Very soothing, in itās own sort of way. Love all that crackle
Bang on with the reference. So good. The sound of playing Last of Us II on permadeath!
Bought the CD of this from Boomkat on a whim Over 2 hours of lush harsh exploratory musique concrĆØte. Havenāt got all the way through but so far itās an absolute delight.
Anyone else going to this? Mr Cortini owes me a gig from COVID times, and I am ridiculously excited knowing I am going to see Ambientās current Boy Wonderā¢ļø too!
Should be a fantastic day/night as Iām meeting a mate in the afternoon, doing a bit of āartā, then AC/KMRU, then have tickets for both FOLD and fabric. Get in.

Iām hoping to! Amazing double bill and Cortiniās set in Brighton a few months back was apparently amazing. Should get on it really.
What a combo.
I must have missed this announcement
Did a gig alongside an artist called Black Brunswicker on Sunday evening who created wizardry with an acoustic guitar and a few pedals. American folk vibes a bit like that Ohio album from a few years back. Had a nice chat too after each of our sets.
Out today on the pretty much invariably excellent, and wholly likeable, quiet details label.
An album of five cracking tracks from zakĆØ, especially the first 2-3 which hit that always preferred minor key melancholy that does it for me .
Really like this. Very coherent, beautifully structured ambient.

Hyped this in the new releases thread but really digging this. Not entirely ambient but enough ambient goodness to pop it into this thread, and some gorgeous layering even in the poppier bits. Got some Ian William Craig and Mum vibes in places.
