Excuse to re-render and get rid of the roughcast?

I’ve just paid £12k on a new mortgage and £3.5k on the roof, we’re looking at super noodles, blu tack and tippex levels of budget here

ok, well the simple fix is to get the roofer to fix it.

Refreshing wee man’s bedroom. Three bloody coats of white to cover that peachy orange so far. Stencils of dinosaurs to come after another coat and some glossing tomorrow.

Did you paint the houses over the road as well?

Yes. Yes I did.

Can’t do enough for the little ones. They want brighter houses over the road then that’s what they’ll have.

Siliconing is the worst DIY job. I hate it so much. First time though I’m happy with the finish.

Can’t really as too outing. Just imagine about 8+ metres of incredibly well painted front wall that now shows up the rest of the house as really needing a paint.

Fair enough. And that’s the problem with doing a decent job of something - the follow-on stuff that gets added to the to do list.

Looking for some advice

We currently have a gas hob and would like to swap it for an induction hob. This job will involve at least checking the electrical supply to the existing hob, and maybe wiring in its own supply, cutting the existing stone worktop to enlarge the cut out, and capping the gas supply.

Which trade should we approach for this, a kitchen fitter or an electrician?

You’ll need three. You’ll need building regs self-certification for the electrics, a Gas-safe engineer to cap the old supply, and a kitchen fitter to do the final installation.

I’d approach kitchen fitters first as they’re sometimes qualified to do simple electrical job like this, or will know other electricians/plumbers who can come in to do the work. You can sometimes get away without upgrading the supply to a new induction hob, depending on the circuit.

In terms of sequence of works, then the electrician and gas man will need to be on site first.

I have a plumber neighbour who will sort the capping no problem but yeah I’m leaning with the kitchen fitter as well because I’d hope they’d be able to assess the electrics and let us know what’s possible and manage things.

jont2001 choose not to appoint a project manager, opting instead to rely on the fitter to organise the individual trades. It was a bold move. 18 months on from when we last filmed with jon, we’re heading back to see if the longstanding issues with the stone worktop have been resolved.

My brother in law in the majority of the work. But I’ve got a new patio area out the front. We had a leak into the garage below so the old one came up. It needs a clean up but I’m pleased with it.

Nice looking tiles.

Yep, very pricey so I hope so. I’m thinking about using the same tiles for the back garden but the total price is putting me off.
