It’s 10 years old now but if anyone has an interest in any aspect of British folk music then I’d really recommend reading Electric Eden by Rob Young. Traces folk music revivalism in Britain through history and the ways it pops up in different guises and interpretations over the last hundred years.
really enjoying this for a classy modern folk fix. She plays harp and it’s all very rich sounding but manages to avoid the cheez. Father in law is subscribed to Songlines now and passing them to me when he’s done so hopefully I’ll have more finds to post in this thread (for nobody to listen to)
