That Story Jonathan Wilson told today about him was fucking great. Think the guy writes for The Observer now
this is really really weird
theyâre now recording the podcast remotely in their bedrooms, despite all being literally in the same apartment
(because theyâre tired?!)
Must admit I have no idea the point of sending out Max and Barry to LA
I guess the point is if there on same time zone as games can get it out in morning UK time maybe.
I know donât have to be in LA for that but probably makes it easier
The excuse is so they can watch all the games and record the pod. Surely just sending Barry to Australia would have been cheaper and better now The Guardian have offices there?
Appreciate this is a very Australian thing to say but we donât want him here.
Well worth sending them out for this sort of thing tbf. He literally sat like that for about a minute while Archie was talking
Iâm almost never a video forms of podcasts guy, but had to check it today
He was very funny I thought.
Yeah, genuinely cracked up at him sort of pretending he wasnât that bothered and then just caving and saying âIâm crushedâ
Osasu (sp) is not going to be happy!
Tifo has been great this World Cup, I think itâll go back to being my primary listen in the domestic season too, especially if they make Kate Mason a regular (used to enjoy her Ramble contributionsâŠhave a vivid memory of her eloquently talking about a serious/emotional topic and being talked over by Luke MooreâŠbut absolutely making sure she called him out for it). Even without my favourite member (Reuben) I think theyâve been the best listen so far. Just bin off points are bad, the guests have been hit and miss but I wouldnât lose that element because overall it gives the show a bit more unpredictability.
On a slow day, if I have time to listen to each WC podcast, I would usually go in this order (essentially from most to least favourite)
Tifo
Football Clichés
England Pod
Totally Football Show
Ramble
Stick to Football
Football Weekly
I rarely get round to the bottom three, and I mean Iâll listen to the latest top 4 across several days after theyâre released
Tifo>Clichés>FW/TFS (depending on line up)>Pablo Honey
enjoyed Lars calling out the pro English contingent for not seeming to enjoy their victory, without realising that the reason none of them ever can or do is because of the oppressive and overbearing Irish hater always sitting in the corner.
If e.g. Max did get a bit giddy heâd just have to deal with Barryâs tedious (performative?) crabbiness even more and I donât think he cba
I thought Lars played it like an old master. Refused to bite on the officiating decisions, extremely magnanimous in defeat, and when they thought they were nearly done for the day funsponged them. Genuinely think he might have an account on here.
Lars is brilliant.
