Yeah man, I’ve been a fan since day one and they are still touring decent venues whenever they have a new release.

Dave is now the only original member left after Simon Taylor (drummer) packed it in a couple of years back. Greg (bassist/Dave’s brother) has been involved since Daydream Anonymous though (released over a decade ago).

They have grown from a three- to a five-piece band over the years, most lose members as they go along! Have you listened to the whole of Jumpstart Hope?

I had no idea they were still touring, is Jumpstart Hope the latest record? If so I haven’t heard it yet but I’ll give it a whirl it’s on Spotify apparently.

Yeah, they just did a week around the UK last month to promote the new album, which is indeed Jumpstart Hope. Give it a go - I really enjoy I Swear, The Next Song, Clear History and Rogue Waves. For Something To Happen (which was the lead single) is a grower too.

There’s some decent heavy/technical guitar stuff on Herald Moth if you’re not familiar - Dave is an extraordinary guitar player when he’s in shredding mood!

Apparently this came out Friday: members of The Body, Full of Hell and Lingua Ignota. Only had one listen while I am working so need to have a proper listen later.

New Elder song sounding pretty good on first listen

Ah it’s out already? Sweet

Not feeling it tbh. First half sounds weirdly like Coheed and Cambria.

Someone remind me to listen tomorrow please

Remember to listen to this tomorrow.

Thanks!

Liked this but it really sounds like something and I cant figure out what. (Not coheed)

It reminds me a bit of Trail Of Dead, Minus The Bear, Sparta, but more proggy

I am really liking this.

Really excellent solo atmo/orthodox black metal project from Sweden. The self confessed Burzum influence is clear via the buzzing hypnotic riffs, but beefed up with much fuller sounding 21st century production. An insta-buy for me.

The excellent albums by Turia and Fluisteraars are both featured here. Didn’t realise Cult of Fire have released two full lengths this month!

Didn’t like that Sightless Pit album. Feels like they just got together, fucked about with some effects and said “thats enough”. Very lazy songwriting.

Czechia’s Cult of Fire (one of only two Buddhist inspired black metal bands I’m aware of!) released two full length albums simultaneously last week, Moksha and Nirvana. So it’s a double album but it isn’t really? :man_shrugging: They’re both definitely worth a listen though.

Woooahhh just seen Scorn have been added to the Raw Power fest. They’re a bucket list act for me so I’m gonna have to go I think - what’s the low down on the fest as a whole? Always been tempted by the bands in previous years but couldn’t face two days in the Dome on my tod (as I would be). Do they do day tickets nearer the time? Pretty sure they did in previous years…

new Elder track is interesting. Don’t think it’s as good as Dead Roots / their earlier work

riffs are still bang on though
