Despite the cover which places them firmly into shit late 90’s metal the split they did with For Your Health is pretty great. For your Health seem pretty solid

They’re fucking great, everything they’ve released has been top stuff, eager to dive into this.

Dense, complex, intense album of avant garde, experimental black metal from Asthâghul the French artist behind one man band Esoctrilhum. An initially intimidating listen it’s going to take me a while to get my head around it, but its Lovecraftian themes and its inclusion of other instruments such as piano and strings etc into the chaotic, churning mix ensure repeat visits.

My mate flagged this up to me, I can confirm, it’s proper decent.

Just noticed that he’s also on this comp that’s just come out today. Lots of folks I’ve never heard of before, along with the likes of Chrome Ghost and Split Cranium. Might have to give it a listen later.

Still liking it but they’ve gone a bit too heavy on the feedback/noise into and after tracks for my liking. FWD has had to be pressed a few times this week. Dont make songs 11 mins long if 5 of them are just nothing but lead ins/outros. The guts of the songs are very good… just takes a whiley to get there

Yes… YES…

jeez that track list is impossible to read, white text on a pale pink background, yeah nice one guys! But from what I could make out, other than Spectral Lore I’ve never heard of any of them. Did you listen?

This is excellent. It might just be me but track 2 sounds like the dirty deformed offspring of We Care A Lot?

Not sure if they updated the text now, but looks a bit more legible on my end. I only got round to listening to a few random tracks in the end. Not sure it was all really my bag. The Chrome Ghost track is acoustic which is a bit of a departure for them and ends up sounding pretty Tool-esque. The Esoctrilhum track is pretty full on and the Spectral Lore track seemed pretty decent though. :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve loved their covers, the one with Chelsea Wolfe is amazing but as much as I love ERR she hasn’t the voice for this song :slightly_frowning_face:

I thought it was pretty decent, but then again I’ve got no great brief for Kate Bush in the first place. Afterwards the YouTube algorithm lead me to her (ERR’s, not KB’s) “What’s In My Bag?” video for Amoeba Records. Partway through she picked one of my all time favourite records, Emmylou Harris’ “Wrecking Ball” and I was over the moon. Then she blew it by choosing a Smashing Pumpkins LP. Wrecking Ball, though, it’s a hell of an album. Totally unsuited to the heavy music thread, but everyone should listen to it.

ERR’s last album is amazing and should be in this thread :sunglasses:

Oh lord yes. I do love their Nirvana covers. I maintain theirs is now the definitive version of Milk It.

sweet, i’ve got the split LP they did with HIRS Collective - whose side is better to be honest -

and various others across the splits but nice to have them in one place.

Wish they’d put all their misfits covers out. Seeing them at stuck on a name playing Hybrid Moments was something else

The boyband The Wanted had membera of Thursday, Primitive Weapons and From Autumn to Ashes in their tour band

Been enjoying this a lot. Not quite sure how to describe it but if you’re put off by the first track then keep going a bit as it’s all over the place in a good way.

At their core they are a messy hardcore/screamo band but there’s noise rock, noise rap, backpack rap beats and all sorts thrown in. Fucking furious throughout though!

Highly recommended
