Damn. I’ve known of a lot of bad things about him and him being disingenuous, but nothing like this. Terrible stuff.

Where Holy Roar goes from here I don’t know. Obviously if it does continue it’ll have to be without him… but he’s the owner. Not sure there’s been a case like this yet? Can see him trying to tough it out, he is very arrogant and very keen to make money.

Seems like some bands are considering options i.e. waiting to see if the label continues with or without him, meanwhile reviewing their contracts to see what they could leave with.

I came to the thread to post a link to an a-ha cover by Ihsahn, which is on heavy repeat in my ears this evening. It feels trivial to post now given the terrible situations just shared with us, but hope it’s ok with everyone. The original was on the first album I ever bought. I knew next to nothing about Ihsahn or Emperor and now it looks as though a faithful, brilliant a-ha cover might be my way in.

I’ll have a listen later. cheers…generally have struggled with his solo stuff a bit. But then did with the last couple of Emperor albums also…

this is possibly the best black metal song ever though so if you take another step into the world of emperor…

to be fair, it was my stock response about 20 years ago and there’s been A LOT of black metal since then…

but it is still an incredible song and it blows my mind that it’s on their debut. Shows such an improvement from the previous version on the enslaved split also. They were such peckers!

But yeah, i’ll stand by my statement in the interests of debate but its getting my brain working over other possibilities :wink:

Can’t really get into Emperor. When I first got into the genre thanks to WITTR I investigated some of the “classics”, this, Anthems to the Welkin at Dusk, Bathory’s Under The Sign of the Black Mark, Mayhem’s De Mysteriis but that early raw bm doesn’t do it for me.
