another new Genghis Tron - not for me at all, found it really dull which is a word I’d never associate with them before

also enjoyed these recently

Causam - apocalyptic black metal from Switzerland - nothing too boundary pushing but a good listen

Sadistic Force- thrash metal with black metal type vocals. Some great ridiculous 80s esque solos, puts me in a mind of a darker Toxic Holocaust

I’m the opposite to you on this, I think it’s fantastic, right up my street.

I really liked that but it could be a lot shorter.

Went back and listened to Board up the house and that’s a different band :open_mouth:

The vocalist has changed and they now have a drummer so it half is

This is starting to sound like it might have album of the year aspirations. Love this and the previous track, cannot wait for this album!

I’m even more excited for it than Mogwai so that’s very high praise

I got an email from Norman’s yesterday that my Mogwai vinyl had been dispatched, exciting!

Ooh yeah, I enjoyed that. At points it sounded like a Scott Kelly feature on Crack The Skye era Mastodon.

I want to like Dvne so much more than I do but every song of theirs I listen to loses me around 4-5 minutes in. If they cut everything between the weird plinky keyboard bit at about 4:30 until the guitar solo around 6:10 I’d love this. Always feel like they could cut two ideas and maybe 2-3 minutes off every song they’ve ever done.

The newly released Mainliner album is a righteous slab of speaker-busting, psychedelic, noise rock!

I always find the Mastodon comparisons. Love Dvne and could never get Mastodon.

:warning:

You meant you find the comparisons odd? Tbh the main thing I was noticing last night was that the vocals reminded me of Scott Kelly. Here and there it did sound a bit Mastodon-ish but it was mainly the vocals really.

Edit: and it doesn’t sound like Neurosis at all to me so that’s the comparison I went with haha.

Gotta say, with Hearts Alive, I love the track in isolation, but if I’m listening to the whole album, I’m starting to get really fatigued by Dailor’s drumming by that point. Start absolutely gagging for him to just lay down a simple groove for a bit and lay off the whole hands fills hands fills thing.
But yeah - if I just listen to it after not hearing Mastodon for a while… fuck yeah. Monstrous tune.

I’ve see Mastodon twice, once supporting Slayer on the Leviathan tour and they were ok and once at the Melvins / Patton ATP and they were good. But every time I put an album on I’m just bored.

Tbf to Mastodon they have made the only song with Neil Fallon that I enjoyed
