Glassjaw “20+ Year(?!)” anniversay shows next year -

London link for all us Londoners

is that £38 per night?

Gojira with Employed To Serve in tow was all very exciting and then I found out that the London date is at Alexandra Palace. Just not ever had a good experience at the venue after making the trek there. Do I need to rethink my Allypallyphobia?

I’m not buying a ticket as every time i have had a ticket to see them they cancelled

(because whatshischops was ill so fair enough but still!)

This EP has led to me reappraising White Ward. I listened to Love Exchange Failure when it came out but I couldn’t get on with the saxophone on first listen so never went back. I’m enjoying it far more on a very delayed second listen!

Yeah this has happened to me too, but I finally saw them live in 2019 having been a fan since the first album came out, and they were brutal and great

I must admit I had almost completely forgot about LEF and if it wasn’t for checking upcoming releases on AOTY the EP would’ve totally passed me by. I remember the album before LEF was really good too… and iirc there was less/no brass on it

Great stuff, thanks for these. Particularly like the sound of Soul Glo. Maybe 2021 isn’t a lost cause after all!

No worries. It has felt a bit of a slower year overall.

I really think Soul Glo are phenomenal. Probably go on about them too much on here, but the LP was great and then Songs to Yeet at the Sun was next level. The last track for instance…

Purification’s 2nd album of 2021 came out a couple of days ago. Been loving these guys, they do a weird psychedelic take on trad doom which is super lo-fi. Won’t be everyone’s cup of tea - the vocals are slightly odd and the lyrics are OTT tongue in cheek at times, but it’s an excellent take on that sound and the song writing is :ok_hand:

Is this the right thread for me to ask if anyone else got Limp Bizkit tickets for Manc or London next year :upside_down_face:?

Neighbour is having an extension done and the builders are pretty much right outside my bedroom window. Bunch of Jack the lad twats talking bollocks. So I’m playing The Body as loud as I can to try and drown them out. Window is open, obviously. Want them to enjoy the bleakness as much as me.

What shall I play next that’s equally as jarring to the untrained ears?

More The Body? Not sure there’s many people who do that tortured bleakness quite like them but they’ve got quite the discography. Give them All The Waters if you haven’t treated them to that yet.

As an added bonus the first five minutes will make them feel like you’ve moved on from bleak tortured screaming.

I ended up with ISIS. It’s been a while since I’ve listened to them and thought I’d substitute the bleakness with something a little more traditionally heavy, but still got some of Aaron Turners trademark growls that could scare a normie.

Yeah I’d suggest The Body remix album to just keep them on their toes
