Some of those albums have ended up being my favourites
oh yeah same. It’s refreshing to have this kind of friction with a new album and it’s definitely part of a conscious decision recently to actually spend more time with less new releases again rather than being a complete magpie that moved on too quickly.
I played Bluenothing to death so odds are good but still, Necropalace is a lot to take in
New Portrayal of Guilt album out in April. Two tracks out today.
I tried looking on Reddit for difference between Kvlt and Tvre and I am none the wiser!
Enjoying Darkthrone quite a bit. Not so much a fan of Emporor / symphonic stuff I’ve heard
Yea I’ve absolutely loved everything they have done but I’m struggling a bit. Some nice solos but overall it’s a bit bland and soulless. Shame
The first two emperors albums are where it’s at. After that they get boring. The first especially is exceptional and is home to the best black metal metal (i.e. the most trve
) track ever in I am the black wizards ![]()
If you’re enjoying darkthrone you might enjoy the raw end of black metal more…. Unless it’s their crust punk or heavy metal era that is.
The black metal trilogy is great though, and even some of their more recent stuff. The middle years are a bit more hit and miss
Ahh I think you’ll need the metallum forums
Ooh … Nothing tops their earliest skramz stuff for me, but always worth a listen.
From Facebook.
No more Godflesh live shows and one more album.
JKB / GODFLESH news — IMPORTANT
Heard from Justin today, he’s given the okay to share some life changing news. Official statement to come…
JKB is recovering and regaining mobility from a serious abdominal surgery some three weeks ago. It addressed a significant hernia issue that had been developing and increasingly affecting live performance. Some may already have heard, or noticed the scaling down of live shows over the past months. The operation went ok, but this condition has resulted in chronic physical limitations that make intense physical activity and loud singing unsafe.
GODFLESH will no longer perform live. Last year’s “in dub” in London was the final GODFLESH performance. This aligns with thoughts that had already been forming about eventually closing out GODFLESH, but the recent surgery simply accelerated that…
Mixing on the penultimate GODFLESH LP, “DECAY” is almost complete, aiming at early autumn release. Another, already written final LP will follow, which will be recorded toward the end of the year. Afterwards, GODFLESH will exist through releases of live/archival/dub/other rare material.
The next jesu LP titled “Still Life” is currently in demo form, with recording and mixing slated for spring, and release expected late 2026. jesu performances will continue as they don’t require the physicality, and JKB will be easing back into live activity in the coming months of recovery
JKB is also excited to tell about developing a new solo project, exploring new forms of heavy, filthy electronics layered with guitars and voice. It will occasionally be presented live, and possibly with a drummer taking over rhythm.
Wow. I’m really pleased I made that Scala show. It was already one to treasure, but if it truly was the last Godflesh show then that is even more special.
there’s a JK Flesh gig in Bristol soon as well
This is good imo tbh
This seems to suggest there are at least two more Godflesh albums.
Gave this a thorough listen today and enjoyed it
I know Spotify stinks and all but does anyone have any playlists they follow? I follow the Roadburn essentials which is pretty good but would be good to have a few others on the go just to keep up with new stuff.
Obviously will give the ones you fine people have put together above a listen as well ![]()
