Sounds like he really made Wild Wild West (1999) with that one
Listened to this yesterday, was quite impressed, absolutely no messing around with the celebrity put downs neither…
Yeah this was good.
Another track from the billy woods album is out. I’m going to stand firm and wait for the whole album.
Listening to this for the first time in over 10 years. Freeway is great, obviously, but Jake One’s beats around this time were untouchable. So so good. Also didn’t realise they had put out a sequel to it, need to give that a listen too.
Showbiz vinyl now up: MIKE - Showbiz!. 10k.
This small DIY leftist experimental noise and industrial label Phage Tapes release hip hop from the area sometimes.
Scumbag Fred - I’m Sorry
This is like an experimental boom bap thing. He’s got a killer voice.
I liked this from RX Cowboy last year Cowboy Killer | Rx Cowboy | Phage Tapes it’s way noisier in line with the rest of the label.
I’ll check these. Will be disappointed, but I’ll check them regardless.
Yeah, will listen, but am hesitant. Nas and DJ Premier is the obvious stand out, but I don’t really have much hope.
Reckon the De La one could be alright though, especially if they get some of the Native Tongue’s guys in to cover for Trugoy.
Supreme Clientele 2… This could be really fucking bad.
This Post Paid For By PROF$.
Actually have highest hopes for the Big L one.
Who’s the last one? “And the epic return of…”?
I’m fairly hopefully there’ll be some good ones among the bunch
I think it’s Slick Rick.
Oh yeah, hyped for that one regardless. His verses are few and far between, so it’ll be just nice to get a full LP
Some of De La’s b-sides and rarities are their best work so if they’ve been digging around in the vaults this could be great, likewise with Big L
They said recently that AOI 3 and an album with Pete Rock were on the way, so I guess it’s one of them (though presumably Pete Rock would get equal billing like DJ Premier). Likely to be a semi-posthumous, We got it from here… style LP, I’d imagine?
If it’s good as ‘we got it from here’ it would be amazing. Really hope it’s not a collab fest like anonymous nobody, that one’s just got worse over time for me, just feel like an album of guest appearances by de la, they’ve cobbled together as an album. They’ve gotta work with Prince Paul one more time surely
EDIT: also would be great if it was slick Rick. I just assumed since it was mass appeal and ‘legend has it’ that it was RTJ
Ah - sorry. Slick Rick is actually only rumoured. I hadn’t read the tweets properly.
