Ok let’s give this a go…

Friday 17th April 6pm – Midnight

Hali Palombo / Fleshtone Aura / Absurd Cosmos Late Nite / Hexakaidecagon / Jo Morrison / Adam Buffington / Marc Matter

Remarkably, I don’t know a single one of the Friday night acts lol: I faintly recognise the names of Fleshtone Aura and Jo Morrison, but haven’t heard them.

Saturday 18th April 1pm – 3.30pm

4046 Group / John Macedo /Regan Bowering / Lucia H Chung / Matt Atkins / Vicky Sparrow / James Shearman and Paul Margree (rotating improv set)

This is a bunch of very good London noisy improvisey types, all great in their own right. Here I believe they are all working as members of 4046 Group, which is a project where everyone plays a simple DIY hands-on cracklebox to make very intuitive gnarly noise. Often switching between PA sound and mini amps, so likely to be a three dimensional textural feast.

Saturday 18th April 6pm – Midnight

Tongue Depressor - very good drone-focused duo. Last time I saw them, one was playing bagpipes and the other switched between playing fiddle and looping and manipulating tapes of the other guy. Recommend

Shakeeb Abu Hamdan - Lovely guy who used to be involved in most DIY gigs in Leeds. Not sure what he’s doing musically these days (possibly amplified percussion?) but sure it will be good.

BILLA ENSEMBLE - don’t know them, research suggests a quartet, of which I know one of the people, Turmeric Acid, who is good at tapey stuff.

Chik White - guy who improvises with mostly jaw harp and voice.

Alice Kemp - quite a performance-arty noise person. Whatever she does will likely be very intense.

Michael Barthel & Anna Schimkat - Don’t know Schimkat, but Barthel is a German sound poetry guy, who mostly shouts angrily at you in German. Good.

Augustė Vickunaitė - ???

Sunday 19th April 1pm – 4pm

Marija Kovačević - plays broken violins in various ways.

Lonny Hoffmann & Zhao Ziyi - son of Aaron Dilloway plus a ridicuously young Chinese guy (born in 2007 lol). Neither have recorded much, and nothing together, but I would expect this to be quite sparse, mix of musical and non-musical actions, idk really but will be interesting

Luciano Maggiore - London guy who has a very personal and very obscure sound / performance art practice. Likely to involve long stretches of silence interspersed by him making clicking sounds or something. His records do nothing for me but I am at least curious what he does in this space (a nice old church)

Sunday 19th April 5.30pm – 11.00pm

Aaron Dilloway - Topping a very heavy bill on Sunday night, the man himself, Aaron Dilloway. I’d be surprised if someone reading this thread doesn’t know him, but if you don’t, you are in for a treat: go listen to Modern Jester right now. One of the best live music sets I’ve ever seen was him (Cafe Oto in 2015), tape loops and sheer physical intensity. Honestly worth the ticket and the trip to Brighton just to see him. Crowd will go wild for this one.

Chop Shop - don’t know his work especially well, but this is a classic American noise guy who uses DIY speakers and metal constructions. Hasn’t played the UK in ??? years.

CIA Debutante - not that familiar, but a lo-fi duo who have some stylistic overlap with the Dead C

Zheng Hao - young Chinese sound artist living in London, busily playing with lots of people in lots of contexts. I suspect on this occasion she’ll be pretty abstract and noisy with a small modular synth set-up.

Suppwiyah - Sheffield modular synth person who I recently shared a bill with: she did a great set!

Shit Creek - lovely Brighton person, who will probably either do warm psychy-droney set of looped organ and violin, or a jagged laptop set of mangled-beyond-recognition pop music samples. Great either way.

Ypsmael - German guy, saw him in a good duo a few years ago. Likely to be a very textural set of electronics and objects.

To conclude: Colour Out of Space, a land of contrasts. Strong strong recommend, needless to say. Open to any questions lol

Jake Muir - Pareidolia | enmossed

Jake takes the ambient parts of death metal and black metal and weaves them together to create something else. Almost like those records of jungle breakdowns by Lee Gamble Diversions 1994-1996.

I can’t even go and I’m excited to check some of this lot out.

I’ve been making loads of stuff myself so haven’t been listening to loads of new stuff but these are ones I’ve been into!

Cannon - Bitter Sentiment | Natural Sciences

“Crushing north west power electronics on this debut CS from Cannon - first introduced on Natural Sciences V/A Northern Nightmare.”

Quiet Husband / Gay Death | Industrial Tape Dispenser

Experimental noisy electronics on one side power electronics on the other.
