Had a great cross on him but yeah his career seemed to have gone down the pan by the time he was 25
Nothing inherently wrong with doing this form of penalties, apart from the whole thing taking longer, it’s just funny/odd that the MLS thought it was a good idea to change what everyone else in the world did to fit with ice hockey or whatever
I think all through Marshall, given how his contacts were highlighted when he was announced and how much control Rowley had over signings. There’s been a couple from Marshall’s old club, Cheadle Town, and most of last year’s squad have gone the other way.
How do the fans feel about it? Players like Jones and Cook were pretty popular weren’t they? Are they moving in a bit of a different direction?
I don’t know much about Marshall beyond his academy career. Rowley and Settle really bought into the club didn’t they, or maybe I’m wrong? Don’t really know much about the fella who served inbetween.
It’s fairly mixed. Lots of regulars were fed up with Rowley and the way his favourite players could skip games whenever they wanted and then be back in the starting lineup. Rowley himself missed 5 games last year. And aside from a good August/September last year, results for the last 18 months haven’t been great. On the other hand, it is semi professional, you’re right that he got it (though Settle probably more), mostly recruited players who were on those lines and there’s lots of good memories with him and the squad. He quit because he found out the club were speaking to managers just to see who was interested, so it ended quite messily.
Loads of the players leaving is partially loyalty to Rowley (Cook works with him and most of the squad played for him at Alty youth previously) and partially because they expected Marshall to ring them up to say he wanted them to stay. He spoke to two who are staying (Billy Matthews and Lewis Billingsley) at the end of season awards but most of the squad didn’t turn up. Recruitment under Rowley was getting really stale so it was probably time for a refresh too, but AJ leaving is gutting, he was an ideal captain.
Marshall definitely seems to be building a team to compete for promotion, based on the clubs they’re coming from. I think he did pretty well at Cheadle Town but I’m not really sure why he left towards the end of last season.
Forest apparently need to raise £10-20m before the end of June - so obviously their first action of the transfer window is to sign a goalkeeper from Corinthians for £4m
Hope yiz are all fuckin ready for the first qualifying round draws tomorrow!!!
Savage is fed up of dealing with managers who don’t agree with him

If any of the United lads have any tips of actually getting tickets tomorrow let me know!
Was nowhere near the front of the queue last year
You a member?
Yep.
With the new season ticket rules there’ll be loads more available when people with season tickets hand games back if you’re not successful today
It’ll say games are sold out while you’re queuing and they won’t be/tickets will pop up throughout the day as people’s payments are declined/they release them from their baskets etc
(Also, if you’re a member, there are always single tickets popping up a few days before every single match if you can do games at short notice)
What do you think of the new season ticket rules?
All my mates are fuming
Hearing that the new season Premier League fixtures have been arranged so that every team will play every other team twice.
Disgrace, always out to get us.
City v Chelsea first game i’m hearing
No doubt we’ll be away at one of the big six first up.
the third round of the FA Cup moved to the second weekend of January instead of its traditional slot the weekend before
Where were the protests about this?
