the new website is a joke, just completely terrible.

Guessing they mean this mix (it’s really good): EERSTE COMMUNIE #021 MARRØN by Eerste Communie | Free Listening on SoundCloud

All that government money spent on an absolutely shite website redesign.

weird

just clicking through on this and ended up reading the interview with Peach alongside her RA mix. They have a link to her Giant Steps set she played for them and I thought … I remember her texting me to say she’d played Silver Threaded Crystal Beads and it got everyone up off their arses and begin to dance. In the RA spiel it says

watch our recording of her live at Giant Steps in London, where she brings a crowd from a sit-down to a rapturous dance with only a few kick drums here and there.

Never realised that they’d filmed it… and sure enough, 33 mins in she plays my track and everyone starts to dance

I guess I’m the ‘only a few kick drums here and there’

oops, should have been a reply to @Steved

It occurred to me well after posting that it came out last Summer, sorry about that. Glad you like it though! Sully is on another level.

Prospa’s latest poppy electro banger.

Not really a huge surprise, but it still feels pretty bleak to think there’s such a long way to go until clubs might re-open properly (presuming things follow a similar time scale here in the UK):

Recorded a mix last night and am actually really pleased with how it turned out (although it’s nearly all one take so some of the transitions could be tidier). It’s pretty much all recent bangers I would have liked to have heard in clubs last year, starts with some half step stuff then works up through some faster percussive stuff and breaks before finishing with half an hour or so of banging techno.

Link because Mixcloud doesn’t work on here

This is really great, some nice belters in that second half especially (envious of the slick mixing too!)

Thanks, yeah I was really happy listening back that some of the mixes sounded as good as they did. Tbh it’s mostly because I’ve been playing these tracks so much over lockdown so I knew exactly what happened where, part of the reason I recorded it was to get them out of my system so I can start playing something else.

This Yu Su album came out last week and is absolutely stunning. Amazed it’s not getting more love. Covers a lot of ground - house, ambient, dub, even a bit trip-hopy in places really naturally, with some traditional Chinese influence too. My album of the month by a mile, despite the best efforts of the lovely Madlib / Four Tet today, which is also bloody great.

Shows how much it helps to know your music well - it all flows together really nicely and the changes in energy felt well paced.

Been recording mixes as well over the last 6 months or so as I’ve been learning to DJ. Mostly standard 4/4 hypnotic, loopy big room techno as I still struggle with more complex rhythmic stuff (getting a bit more confident though). I was pretty happy with my latest one, feels like the most coherent yet despite a few wobbly transitions.

Put it on Soundcloud earlier in the week here - tracks from Anthony Linell, Adriana Lopez, Takaaki Itoh, Function, Luke Slater, etc.

oh nice, thanks!

will give it a listen

Mate this is really, really good. Track selection is great, every song has something to hold your attention. The bass is really good throughout as well, one thing I’m really not good at when mixing techno is fading one kick out and another in. I usually mix in the treble then cut the bass for four bars and then drop in the new kick; fine in moderation, wearing when I do it for every transition.
