Wish I liked the new Ian William Craig as much as you. I enjoyed it but ‘Centres’ blew me away (my AOTY) and this new one won’t make my top 64 (yes I do a top 64, because reasons)

That’s a shame. I’d put Centres above it slightly, but not that much. Why do you think you don’t enjoy this one as much?

Centres is a pretty damn unique album I think. I love the way he manages to blur the boundaries between pure ambient and singer songwriter and I think his stuff in each vein is good enough to stand on its own with the greats. The new one feels more just like straight ambient and doesn’t, to my ears, as wonderfully swing and seethe seamlessly from one mode to another.

Mount Eerie at 5, everything else down one. Thought it was 2017
