Going to try watching every summerslam, this will totally not end with me giving up after 3 shows.

you doing them in order? good luck, this will be a slog. not seen the early ones for some time but remember the first one peaked with the opening match

Yeah I’m watching it now and the opener is as good as I remember, but I remember nothing else of this show… so we will see.

What match/year is that again?

Just osw the first few

The Bulldogs vs The Roguea Brothers (can’t spell) 1988

Ah yeah, recall that from osw :joy:

Summerslam 1988 Is actually quite fun. The opening tag match is straight up fire, asides from the disappointing finish. It is undoubtly the best match of the night from a technical standpoint but The Hart Foundation vs Demolition is also a pretty solid match.

In ring wise the rest of the card is very standard slow brawly plodding 80s WWF action which is carried by the strength of it’s characters and the overwhelming undying crowd enthsiasm which means even the worst matches don’t drag.

Plenty of classic moments. Ultimate Warrior squashing Honky Tonk Man for the IC Belt. Rick Rude revealing Jake Roberts wife on his trunks. The Mega Powers being the hottest thing on the planet (along with Ms Elizabeth swoon) and a wealth of nostalgia made this a fun watch.

7/10

Actually, lets make it a 6 for Gorilla Monsoon constantly saying ‘it’s a happening’ and the matches are pretty crap.

Oh god yeah it’s all coming back now

ITS A HAPPENING

Naito’s won block A of the G1 as expected.

Omega/Okada III tonight… can they possibly top the last two?
If you can find streams they’ll be broadcasting with English commentary. Safe to say it’ll be very, very, very good at the least. Would laugh if they gave Omega a five second roll up win or something.

the show’s on now, large micheal vs juice has just started. omega/okada not for a couple of hours yet though obvs. tana vs naito and zsj vs ishii yesterday were both great. hoping for / expecting an omega-naito final, their match last year is one of my all time favourites

Haven’t seen it yet but I heard ZSJ made Ishii pass out after putting him in a hold that stretched literally every limb :joy:

oh mate, the finish was so good. love when zack goes into overdrive like that, has someone in a hold, then grabs another limb, and then another limb. so good

okada-omega 3 was superb, the G1 final was maybe even better, but this was tournament highlight

liger & milano both tearing up at ringside after that hit me in the feels a bit

Whens the period WWE truly went awful, 2005/2006?

Yeah latter half of the 00s, after Eddie and Benoit died, though are some good Manias in there if nothing else. 2002-2004 is actually pretty great in places when I watched it for first time last year

Got onto the 2002 raws , the brand splits making it hard to invest tbh
