You’re onto something here. I got urked at the airport the other day when the ‘tray man’ starts shouting that there’s a hold up and everyone needs to prepare by getting everything ready. Take belts off and boots off and toiletries out and laptops out etc and we’re all stood In a long queue.

Give me some trays and shit and I’ll get sorted but only so much I can carry separately.

Has anyone given a valid reason as to why wheelie suitcases are evil yet?

  1. Most people wheeling them have no self awareness and don’t realise how annoying walking behind someone with one is.

  2. People with them get priority (kind of) in the overheads - this really annoys my partner as he usually travels with a backpack and it’s assumed he can just put this in the seat in front of him, but he has long legs, so that is super uncomf.

  3. See below:

Thank you both.

I just… whatevs. It’s no biggie. They’re incredibly convenient. I use a backpack too but I still don’t mind em.

as i said ^up there somewhere, don’t give a fuck if they have wheels or not. it’s massive suitcases i have a problem with.

Yeah that’s fair enough.

I think it’s not so much the wheels as the certain type of businessman (pretty much always a man) who drags his laptop to work in some poncy leather version of this with a very long handle and a small bag mass. In this situation you continually trip up other commuters because, as said they’re low to the ground and there’s no real indicator.

So when someone says ‘small wheelie suitcase’ I think of this.

Those ones that fit the absolute maximum size for hand luggage are a lot bigger and easier to see. And also carry a significant weight. I don’t have a problem with them: They basically exist because budget airlines were trying to get a margin on making hold baggage expensive.

Do the cabin crew offer to put his backpack in the hold instead upon boarding?

how are you wheelie haters moving all your stuff when you go on holiday?
Bags full of whatever are really heavy!

Carrying them.

Poly bags

Why waste the energy. Travelling is exhausting enough as it is. Anything that makes it a bit easier is welcome.

I still use my rucksack from when I started secondary school. Czech army surplus yo!

Would really like to gather all the kanken packers and compare packing techniques.

It’s a lot easier when you wear your pants on your head, and then a bike helmet on top of that.

Doesn’t seem very cost efficient to hire a bloke to carry your stuff around for you
