A: I have a long boozy lunch with Jimmy Carr whenever he’s not touring, and it is always an honor and a masterclass to listen to him muse on the craft. He recently said, “Be careful when you get to the top of the mountain. You might not be able to breathe the air.” That has stuck with me.

i really love Guy Montgomery and Aaron Chen and Sam Campbell, and I’ve watched every episode of Spelling Bee… but I just can’t love it. I don’t know what it is. I have a reasonably good time watching it, but nowhere near the adoration folks give it.
