When I was about 10 on my way to church I found a quid and mentioned it to another kid a few years older than me and he said ‘oh I dropped a quid on my way to church’. I was like fair enough, there you go, took me a few years to realise he was likely lying.

Got this text the other week. Meant to add to my contacts as a wrong number, but was early and texted back by mistake. Later in the day had a nagging doubt in the back of my mind so googled the text & then got spooked to see it was a scam.

Blocked the number, so no further contact fortunately.

Took me a while to work out what the scam actually was as most google results just mentioned people replying lost £20-40. Was initially worried that somehow just replying would get me scammed with some premium rate or summat.

Seems they hope you know a sarah think it’s them. Then they follow up saying they’re still stuck in hospital, out of credit etc & need you to send them some cash to make calls.

Went to Varna Archaeological Museum. Asked the lady at the desk at the entrance how much it was and she said €10 for the 2 of us. Looked it up when got home and turns out it was free.
I had the last laugh though because I remember zilch about that museum (probably because I had severe food poisoning for pretty much the entire holiday and was nearly hospitalised) and learnt nothing! And everyone knows museums are there to teach you stuff!

That’s what I do. They look shifty and say no an walk away. Usually ask someone else for their phone or to put their sim card in or some thing. Total phone nicking scam.

My mate bought us a round of fake Mojitos from some scammer on Barcelona beach. Fake rum was put in that was sugar water.

Yep, group of friends and I were suckered. The finale was buying a shit fruit dish for 10 quid in order to ‘qualify’ to buy something great. That fruit dish was a reminder of our stupidity.

just remembered one. in paris a guy tied a bracelet on my wrist (can’t remember what the pretence was, “here let me show you a trick” or something) then tied this shitey friendship bracelet type thing on in such a way that you couldn’t take it off without breaking it. then he tried to say he wanted £20 for it. told him there was no way that was happening and left. can see how they would get people with that one though.

Had an odd/interesting (not a scam?) thing happen to me in Bank at lunch the other day. Was popping to the Pret and a guy stopped me who did definitely look homeless/impossibly hard up. Told him I had no money (which was true thanks to cashless etc) and he said, no could I just buy him a sandwich and a drink from Eat.

Anyway, told him to come into the Pret with me as that’s where I was going and he grabbed a sandwich, crisps and ordered a cup of tea. I mean about 7 quid’s worth I suppose, which is fine. At the end I wasn’t sure if a person in genuine need had worked out the absolute best method of getting city cashless wankers to give him food or it was just a fairly low-level scam.

Mate bought a bag of weed of some lad on the street in Barcelona. I’m certain it was just a bit of tobacco mixed in with dried mixed herbs - it certainly smelt more like oregano than cannabis.

It was an unlicensed cab so I’d consider that a scam.

You poor ppl of DIS, don’t worry I run a seminar in how to identify and stop yourself being scammed ever again it only costs £100 which is nothing considering how much it will save you. Its this Saturday at 20 Con St, Scamtown, London
