Not sure if I was pre or post Oliver but I’d buy massive chocolate cookies from the cafeteria during the 10am break and greasy pizza for lunch every day. Good times, kinda

Favourite items from across my school days:

Frubes in primary school
Sweaty white doorstop toast in secondary school at morning break
£2.70 sausage, chips, curry sauce and a can from the chippy over the road in sixth form

Ooh also used to get a club sandwich from this sandwich bar / takeaway over the road. Three slices of thin white toast, incredibly salty and greasy filling, red salt chips on the side. The good life.

Always sandwiches first three years usually so we could all avoid the food hall and go smoke or be stupid elsewhere.
Got to go into town from year 10 onwards which was good, as it was a seaside town so many chippies/greggs/supermarkets.

Never for me, although we did used to sometimes go on coffee runs to the nearby Wetherspoons for the drama staff, whose office we would occupy in free periods

Pretty much all those options but mainly went to Aldi. Had to make the most of being allowed to leave school at lunch

There were some lads in our year who would go the bookies in morning break

Few of us used to go to KFC and share a bucket every Friday. Otherwise sometimes it’d be Subway or Greggs or chippy or just bring something in.

We were officially allowed out as we pleased in Sixth Form but there always seemed to be a broken bit of fence on the playground, so we’d sometimes sneak out to Greggs or whatever before that.

In my 1st to 4th years at secondary school (no idea what those years are called now) it was nearly always packed lunch but sometimes school dinner. But in the 5th year you were allowed offsite at lunchtime so I’d often go to the nearby chippy

I ate pasta with butter and chips and cheese and a double chocolate doughnut every day for five years so I think I can safely say pre Jamie oliver

Have a visceral disgust of packed lunches. Can’t even do them for walks or day trips now - even if I’m fine with the individual components something about it just makes me think of people in a hall eating disgusting things.

Can’t remember the deal in primary but thankfully at secondary the areas were separated so people having hot dinners would just be eating jacket potato / pizza / chips etc.

Across the road from a supermarket

Used to buy a sausage roll (50p) and a buttered bread roll (30p) every break time and have a sausage roll sandwich. Probably took several years off my life.
