I loved the sea shanties + Captain Beefheart phase of the Coral. Think they ditched it pretty quickly when they realised it doesnāt sell many records

Such a shame, it sounded amazing to my ears. I didnāt discover Beefheart til afterwards but a big influence

Yes, same here. I discovered Captain Beefheart through bands like the Coral naming him as an influence. Iām sure I read somewhere that on Skeleton Key the Coral just took a Beefheart song and reversed it
