Seafood

As they were mentioned on the new releases thread (by me, ahem) I thought they deserved their own thread.

David Line appears on this podcast and plays some songs including a new one!

For those who don’t know they were an early 2000s alt rock band influenced by Sonic Youth and Pixies but still quite melodic and basically one of the most interesting alt-rock bands from that era and if they were American they would appear in loads of best cult band lists and you should listen to this album:

I’m on a Seafood diet - I see food and I listen to them

Saw them quite a few times.

Seafood supported by My Vitriol used to be a regular line up. Saw that double bill at ULU and The Underworld if not a few other places.

New one on me, I’ll check them out!

My Last FM tells me I haven’t actually properly listened to them since 2014, so maybe I actually should check them out

Ha, came here to say this. Saw the same bill at Dingwalls, too.

Seafood were brill.

Used to listen to them a bit - rinsed this one after it was on a Melody Maker CD:

a few months or so ago I re-bought When do we start… as I’d lost it in a million house moves, and quite enjoyed going back through it. I was only prompted to do so because John from Maybeshewill was talking about it, and I was really, really close to buying him a promotional plastic bag for the album which someone had put on ebay.

Can’t find that sadly, but I am now tempted by this, a framed and (poorly) mounted instore promotional poster from MVC

haha, lovely. sadly the plastic bag has vanished from ebay - should’ve gotten a screenshot!

I’ll listen when I get a chance but my god, that is a poor band name :grinning:

‘Surviving the Quiet’ is an album I absolutely rinsed for about 5 years but haven’t even thought about it for years afterwards. No idea why that is: maybe should go back to it.

“Available at MVC”

This was my wake-up call for a while, Christian O’Connell would spin it regularly but I’d never catch the name of the song or band.

It was only until I was walking past one of the stages at Reading Fest ‘01 that I heard that opening bass riff and finally discovered who the band was. Worra choon.
