Inevitable when acts have been around for ages and you’re comparing how they sound 5 albums apart. Always more interesting when the second album is completely different to the first, especially when the first was written when the band were kids. First one that came to mind was Finch. Emo to desperately trying to be a Mike Patton side project.

Instantly got me thinking about how Panic at the Disco shifted from bombastic Duran Duran-like synthy emo on Fever… to the sci fi Americana of Pretty. Odd.

I haven’t listened to it for years, however, I remember the second album by The Stills (‘Without Feathers’) sounding completely different to the first (the brilliant ‘Logic Will Break Your Heart’). My mind could be playing tricks on me though.

Interesting. It’s not that different. Both brilliant records (I released the second on DiS label in the UK so may be a bit biased)
