well, it’s not like there aren’t teenage vandals in Sweden, there’s a bunch on our estate who like to do a bus stop football challenge …which involves seeing who can kick the ball hard enough from the supermarket car park to smash the window on the bus stop outside the supermarket but the local council figured it out eventually and installed supershatterproof plexiglass : )
Then of course there’s plenty of graffiti around and some regular firework throwers but it’s all very low level
I guess the answer is down to people who rely on communal resources being very reluctant to smash up things that they need or enjoy - we have a floodlit AstroTurf football pitch that never has even the hint of damage or graffiti. Hardly even any litter…which I think speaks volumes
That plus the fact that the laundry room system ameliorates any kind of abuse - there is one magnetic key per apartment that gives residents access to the laundry/lounge/workshop area and you book 2 hour slots via the net or over your phone.
The people who use it keep it tidy and there is also a cleaner once a week.
