I lived in Wilmslow for about a year. Weird place, it’s possible that a large percentage of its residents are actually holograms.

Genuinely do not understand the property market in that place.

Yes its got some nice houses, but people are paying how much for a 2 bed new build right under the airport flight path?

So I’ve got a job which starts on Saturday and so am desperately trying to find somewhere to live, but not many people are replying to me .

Job’s at Escape To Freight Island, which late shifts so need somewhere that isn’t a faff to get home from at 1am most days. Ancoats / New Islington would be ideal and quite a few in my budget for a flatshare (£500 with bills, £550 at a stretch).

Also seen a few around Ardwick / Hosptial that would only be a 20 min or so walk. What’s it like around there to live, if anyone knows?

Wouldn’t recommend Ardwick at all, there’s nothing there and it’s got a history of being a bit grim, though it’s getting better these days. New Islington would be good, Ancoats would be best!

Yeah, echo this. Don’t wanna go in too hard on Ardwick as apparently it’s improved in recent years and i avoid it but… there’s a reason everyone generally avoids it.

Ancoats is lovely but priceeeeey. Maybe flatshares are more reasonable than renting outright though so fingers crossed.

Yeah, live in Preston ATM and figured out it won’t cost too much extra to just stay at the premier Inn for a few weeks when I’m working so not in too much of a rush, and finding there’s a good few places in my limits

Does anyone want to help me find a nice house. I’ve lived here all my life but I am a useless man.

Aw, got a soft spot for Preston, worked there a for a couple of years way back when. Mind you, was commuting from Burnley…so anywhere was nice in comparison!

Well my partner and I lived in Ancoats for 7 years in 3 different buildings (walking to work in city centre at all hours too) before moving at the start of lockdown so if we can offer any insights let me know (although things change so fast there, i can’t guarantee any advice will still be 100% valid).

Was a bit in love with this place. Really nice area and a 5 min walk to the tram.

I want to live in that house - genuinely wish it had been on the market when we’d been looking, as it’s the nicest little road.

Ended up in a flatshare in Blackfriars / Salford. Any decent pubs / coffee places nearby that people know of? Pot Kettle Black is about 10 mins walk which is ideal.

I like the gas lamp

I’m hoping the Grindsmith cabin returns to that area its just on the river by the Manchester cathedral but seems to have vanished over lockdown.

Eagle is alright and I believe Blackfriars is reopening at some point after what must be 25 years Kings Arms and Salford Arms are just down the road.

And fuck Pot Kettle Black went to school with someone who owns it, who was a knob.

Ah its gone to ancoats. Boo hiss. As if they dont have enough options. Man, it was so cute where it was before :broken_heart:

Although the rhubarb and coconut porridge PKB do is one of the finest breakfasts in town

Second The Eagle. Terrific pub, fond memories. Not been for time and delighted to see it’s still going.

Heard it’s good for gigs from a mate as well.

Depends on the evening, almost expired one summer in that room. During a gig obviously not just randomly walking in there and passing out.

In Manchester this weekend, are there any fancy vegan restauraunts or places that do like a vegan tasting menu?
