Ah that’s good that you enjoyed it  Did you notice much of a drop off in the audience? I only spoke to the ones who fled to come to the launch (i spoke to a someone who didn’t have a launch ticket also so she was going back in even though she also said she hated it )

No no-one left from the seats i could see - was it just industry c*nts wanting to go to a party instead?

Looking at this year’s line up there’s nothing that grabs me like … fuck Miss Saigon did.

I’m off to this Surround Sounds | Aviva Studios | Manchester International Festival 2025 – Factory International

Can’t believe it’s a 01.30 finish, i’m an old man

I think that’s the dj’s, bands are finishing at a normal time apparently.

Yuuuuuurrrrrrssssssssss!!! Bed by 11

I’m also at that :+1:

my friend just asked me for advice for a date on Saturday in town

he said “where’s good for an activity to do and some food afterwards?”

I don’t really know town that well anymore, so I am asking you lot. please/ty

What qualifies as an activity?

There’s lots of free MiF art stuff around at the moment - at HOME and at the Whitworth. Nice for a browse. You could get food close to HOME (or at it)

Weather’s going to be crazy hot this weekend, so film is a good shout for the air con, OR rent some yellow bee bikes off the street and have a pedal around?

Best date food restaurants IMHO:

Higher Ground
Another Hand
Climat (although this feels not as good as it used to be)
Dishoom
10 Tib Lane
Canto
The Sparrows

Always my answer: visiting John Rylands. The queer exhibiton they have on at the moment is cool too. Then you’re just across the road from Maray too

I’m not exactly sure… my friend asked me because I am “relatively more cultured than most people”, but then I wouldn’t have thought he’d be into most of the things I’m into :upside_down_face:

I have relayed yours and @Malva 's recs, though!

Fucking john robb sat nect to me in HOME again in his stupid waistcoat that shows his chest AGAIN

He departed with a very loud “oh yeah, Dave Grohl will be easy to get now” [did everyone hear that?]

Anyway, thanks for joining my live journal session.

I’ve seen him twice in there recent as well, doing just this. Think he just loiters around so people recognise him.

In the caption for the video she also wrote: “If the song “who let the dogs out” was a city, it would be Manchester.”

I mean, she’s not wrong (although MIF have really missed a beat by not appealing more to the Oasis visitors, I had 2 people on my that came over from America for Oasis and had absolutely no idea about MIF being on at the same time - feel like no one does know about MIF unless you’re already initiated though)

“I have never seen a more concentrated group of drunkenness,” she said. "You go to a concert and sometimes you see maybe one or two people that you’re like, you’ve been over-served.
“This was you were lucky if you found one or two people that hadn’t been over-served.”

Manchester la la la, Manchester la la la
