Seeking advice from Manchester dissers

Ha true… people always moan about calling places Manchester that technically aren’t. I suppose greater Manchester is correct

I agree strawberry / 10cc should be acknowledged

Because they’re not cool enough. Music started with punk - the official start date was when the Sex Pistols played at the Free Trade Hall :wink:

Quietly released tickets to a new podcast stew’s recording up here next weekend…

See you there?

I have a spare ticket to this in case anyone fancies it last minute!

I’d completely forgotten about it and am on the way now

@sycamore @malva @MME in general

(it was a good and fun gig)

anyone got views on The Yard as a gig space? probs heading down for The Early Years show in November

Only been once for a DJ Yoda set. It’s a bit weird, but a nice space and a great bar. Bit out of town if you’re not from Manchester.

Yeah it’s a slightly odd one - worked well for Warrington Runcorn New Town gig I went to, but it isn’t close to anything and in a bit of a funny area. Sounded fine for electronic stuff - not sure how it’d be for full band.

yeah would much rather it was at YES or something. But mum really wants to see em so I’m sure it’ll be fine

What a strange shift!

Loved allotment when it was in Stockport but have never been to it in town or heard of anyone talking about it since it moved. Their food was really good and it seemed to be a perfect specialism so just deciding to evolve into an Irish bar is baffling. But I suppose in that location near the shambles pubs it’s prime Irish pub goers territory

Says a lot that I didn’t know it was there to begin with just still the back of the Mitre to me.

I went here in their Manchester Cathedral location last year for a mate’s birthday, it was a bit weird, we ordered and then the waiter came out saying they were really sorry they forgot to tell us that all the food was going to come out on sharing boards. They were so apologetic and took all 8 of our drinks off the bill. Seemed like a mad thing to be really apologetic about! Free drinks tho. And the food was alright for that sort of old school veggie stuff.

The concept did seem a bit shopworn though

I hate that this is the case - I genuinely wish it wasn’t - but every time a new inauthentic “BOGUS” Irish bar opens in town, I can feel myself getting stronger. I’m filled with energy, and am usually taken over by the famous Irish “gift of the gab”, as if, yes, I had laid my hands on the Blarney Stone itself. Bev Craig for next mayor? Sure looks like it, but the mastermind behind the throne will surely be myself; I’m incredibly powerful, and will use my extraordinary genious to completely remodel Manchester in Dublin’s image - complete with a man-made Liffey (the Spiffey, perhaps?) Ah, I’ll raise a pint of the black stuff to that - be it Guinness, Murphy’s or Beamish! Fantastic, and Manchester - guys, listen - you’re so welcome. Like totally.
